Google Video post-to-blog feature
"Google Video post-to-blog feature" on Google Video
Mostly I just want to test out our post-to-blog feature which allows you to post videos directly to LiveJournal, as well as Blogger, MySpace, and TypePad. (For those who happen to read my LJ and don't know this, I work on Google Video.)

Anyway, this is among my favorite videos that we have on the site. Enjoy.

Oh, that's disappointing. I thought it would actually embed the flash player here so you wouldn't need to actually click through (I didn't work on this feature, obviously). I guess LJ doesn't allow embedding of flash. The post-to-blog feature does embed on those systems that allow embedding. Ah well.

imagine if they did allow it, and ten videos tried to load and play simultaneously on your friends page.

Our embedded player doesn't play until you click it. Though granted, if they allowed embedded flash at all, then some people would put things that play automatically, which I agree would be annoying.

However, it wouldn't be hard for LJ to instead have on your friends page an icon or something taking the place of the actual flash object, and only actually insert the flash onto the page if you click through to the entry. They already have an option to do that for images.
